"We spoke to former prison governor Ian Acheson. He’s now the Senior Advisor to the Counter Extremism Project. We began by asking him if the police and security services should’ve seen these riots coming."
“Lynne is joined by Hans-Jakob Schindler, Co-Director of the Counter Extremism Project. He began tracking and observing Al Qaeda and the Taliban before most people even knew they existed. And now that they’re back, he points out that it’s the same individuals with the same ideology and the same intentions. He's seen and heard it all before, and he doesn’t pull his punches.”
"An exchange that took place on Turkish soil. […] Germany's willingness – according to DW – to release Vadim Krashikov (a former Russian security service (FSB) officer convicted of murdering a Chechen ex-Georgian officer in Berlin in 2019) and Turkey's role as a mediator were instrumental in made a historic prisoner swap between Russia and the West possible this week, according to Hans-Jakob Schindler, a German counter-extremism expert and senior director of the nonprofit Counter Extremism Project."
CEP Senior Advisor Ian Acheson writes: "Merseyside police were very keen to rule out the Southport attack as ‘terrorism-related’. This was despite subsequent remarks from the Home Office that counter-terrorism police were still assisting the investigation. That muddled explanation will fall on deaf ears. Whether this turns out to be an act encompassed within the dry legalistic definition of terrorism, the dead are still dead."
"'It’s not going to be too long before we find the Milosevic in the country.'
People feel that the Government doesn’t speak for them anymore and this could push them to the far-right, says Ian Acheson, former Home Office director of community safety."
CEP Senior Advisor Ian Acheson writes: "Is there any point in rehabilitating prisoners sentenced to ‘whole life’ tariffs, who will die in custody? Today’s announcement banning such prisoners from a fundamental human right – to get married – would suggest the state thinks there isn’t."
"Former prison governor Prof Ian Acheson, now a specialist at the Counter Extremism Project think tank, told The National the events show the need for stricter regulation of social media."
"The Counter Extremism Project says the goal of Active Clubs is 'to build a shadow militia while evading law enforcement scrutiny'.
'Active Clubs pretend to have deradicalised and to only focus on sports and brotherhood,' the project's Alexander Ritzmann told a Senate hearing last week.
'They're often founded by members of established open extreme right neo-Nazi groups to attract members from mainstream society.'"
"Would Israel's missile defense system 'Iron Dome' withstand an attack from different fronts? 'The 'Iron Dome' offers sufficient protection in the current situation, but in the event of a broad confrontation with Hezbollah, the system would very likely be overloaded,' Hans-Jakob Schindler, senior director at the Berlin think tank Counter Extremism Project, told our editorial team."
“Your questions answered! Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas' top political leader, has been assassinated in Tehran, Iran. According to a Hamas statement, Haniyeh "died as a result of a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran," where he was attending the inauguration of Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian. Iran's paramilitary guard, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, confirmed Haniyeh had been targeted and killed at his residence in Tehran, along with his bodyguards. Earlier in April, an Israeli strike killed three of Haniyeh's sons in Gaza. Interview with CEP Senior Director Hans-Jakob Schindler.”
