eGLYPH - Combattre l'extrémisme sur le Net

Qu'est-ce que eGLYPH?

eGLYPH est un logiciel basé sur la technologie PhotoDNA capable de détecter les images, vidéos et fichiers audio déjà connus et de les supprimer du web si nécessaire. PhotoDNA a été développée par le Dr Hany Farid, professeur d'informatique à l'Université de Dartmouth dans le New Hampshire et expert en criminalistique numérique, en collaboration avec le National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) en 2009 pour arrêter la circulation de photos pédopornographiques sur le web. En 2016, le Dr Farid et le Counter Extremism Project ont développé le logiciel eGLYPH, capable d'analyser rapidement et précisément les contenus vidéo et audio.

Le 23 mars 2018, un homme armé a volé une voiture dans la ville de Carcassonne, dans le sud du pays, tuant un passager et blessant le conducteur. Le tireur a ensuite blessé par balle un policier à proximité. Le tireur, identifié comme Redouane Lakdim, âgé de 26 ans, s'est ensuite rendu dans la ville voisine de Trèbes et aurait crié qu'il était un "soldat de Daesh" dans un supermarché Super U. Lakdim a tué deux personnes et pris plusieurs autres otages, exigeant la libération de Salah Abdeslam, le suspect survivant des attentats de novembre 2015 à Paris.
