"Despite those credentials, GiveSendGo, a site that promotes itself as the “'#1 Free Christian Fundraising Site', has yet to boot Pohlhaus from their platform. GiveSendGo was notified at least twice last year about the avowed neo-Nazi and his affiliations to the violent far-right. In September, an analyst at the Counter Extremism Project (CEP), a non-profit terrorism watchdog, contacted GiveSendGo to say Pohlhaus was using it as a platform for making money and establishing a white nationalist community." 

CEP Senior Alexander Ritzmann writes: "This article assesses the alleged plot by the Reichsbürger group called Patriotic Union to overthrow the German government that was thwarted in December 2022. The article first outlines what is known about the plot. It then in turn examines the history, the ideology, the adherents, and the threat posed by the Reichsbürger."

CEP Strategic Advisor Liam Duffy writes: "Even considering the usual moral squalor of jihadist violence, Merah’s spree stands out for its depravity. Yet, for some reason, he is still widely revered. Nicole Yardeni, a deputy mayor in the city, tells me that his name is sometimes viewed positively even outside of jihadist circles, as “a symbol of rebellion” against society. After all, Merah is the man “who brought France to its knees”, as one local youth reminded the mother of his first victim. Even at the time of the police manhunt and siege, Facebook posts and pages honouring the gunman attracted thousands of likes, while police prevented people from laying flowers at his apartment. (It goes without saying that the overwhelming majority, Muslim and non-Muslim, were horrified."

"Sir Ivor Roberts, senior adviser at the Counter Extremism Project, said it 'beggars belief' they are on YouTube 12 years on.

He added: 'It’s sickening to think such material can be easily accessed by children and vulnerable adults — and essentially act as recruiting videos, glamourising and justifying a violent neo-Nazi cause.

'The laws requiring wealthy social media giants to prevent such harmful material from being broadcast are simply not robust enough.'"

"YouTube says it does not allow hate speech under its terms of service and removes any content that incites violence or hatred. But a joint investigation by this newspaper and the Counter Extremism Project found videos contravening this policy have been online for up to two years."

CEP Senior Advisor Ian Acheson writes: "We know a depressing amount of information about terrorists who have managed to evade detection and carry out atrocities in this country, mainly through public inquiries and inquests. But what about those who have failed in their crimes? What are we doing with them and why does it matter?"

"The non-profit Counter-Extremism Project noted in a March analysis note that the number of attacks carried out by ISIS-K appeared to drop earlier in the year, as did its propaganda initiatives to build international cache for its organization. The project attributes the drop to weather conditions as Afghanistan experiences the coldest winter in 15 years, as well as some successful Taliban operations to target and contain the group."
