"'The group’s [Hamas] ideology blends Islamism and Palestinian nationalism and seeks the destruction of Israel and the creation of an Islamic state between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River...PIJ is dedicated to eradicating Israel and establishing an autonomous Islamic Palestinian state in the lands currently comprising Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza....Accordingly, PIJ refuses to negotiate with Israel, rejects a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and carries out numerous terror attacks against Israeli targets and interests,' says think tank Counter Extremism Project (CEP)."
CEP research cited extensively throughout: "In recent years, individuals with origins or backgrounds in Finland, Germany, Armenia, Estonia, Greece, Italy, Iran, Norway, Russia, Spain, and the US have figured in NRM circles in Sweden, some as visitors, some as residents who support or participate in NRM activity."
"The new self-proclaimed caliph seeks to draw legitimacy by claiming heritage from the prophet's Quraysh tribe -- as did all IS leaders before him. 'The Qurashi name is used as a branding for the leader,' Hans-Jakob Schindler, director of the Counter-Extremism Project think-tank, told AFP. 'Even if it is just a made up name... it is sufficient for the network to function.'"

"'Rundo is less popular than he would like,' Joshua Fisher-Birch, a researcher with the US-based NGO Counter Extremism Project, told Bellingcat. 'Rundo doesn’t have the influencer profile he likely wants, which is also made more difficult by his inability to use mainstream social media easily.' ...
Accordingly, Fisher-Birch warns that Rundo is still dangerous and is 'trying to gain a following within the American extreme right.' Rundo continues to shepherd a model of RAM-styled fight clubs across the US and beyond, targeting young men and recruiting at high schools, gyms and other places. In addition, Fisher-Birch told Bellingcat, Rundo increasingly stresses the need in his output for members to be trained, ready and willing as 'warriors' to use physical violence against their perceived enemies."
CEP research referenced: "A lawsuit filed in U.S. federal court in June 2020 alleged Qatar provided funding to Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and Hamas through three Qatari financial institutions, the Qatar Charity, Masraf Al Rayan (Al Rayan Bank), and Qatar National Bank."
On this episode of “The Hunt with WTOP National Security Correspondent J.J. Green,” Dr. Hans-Jakob Schindler, senior director at the Counter Extremism Project, says the warning issued by al-Qaida is unusual.

"The Counter Extremism Project (CEP) think tank has been conducting weekly investigations into the methods used by extremists to exploit the internet and social media platforms to recruit followers and incite violence.
Last week, CEP researchers found a copy of a notorious ISIS bomb-making video and guidance on the manufacture of chemical and biological weapons using commercially available products on the Internet Archive."
CEP Senior Research Analyst Sofia Koller referenced in a regional German newspaper reporting on a conference on female perpetrators in Erlangen, where Koller gave a presentation on the prosecution of female returnees.

CEP Senior Director Dr. Hans-Jakob Schindler interviewed: "...in 2020, my organization, the Counter Extremism Project (CEP), conducted research into MB networks in a range of countries in Central and Eastern Europe (see here, here, and here). This research demonstrated that while these networks have been growing since the end of the Cold War, their size, political influence in the respective countries, as well as their influence within the wider community, has been reduced in the past few years, and that other, less structured extremist Islamist networks have been taking their place."

"I learned a lot from Hans-Jakob Schindler, who is senior director of a formidable think tank on European domestic extremism, the Counter-Extremism Project..."
