On October 31, 2021, an armed group ambushed security forces in Burkina Faso’s Sorou province in the borderlands near Mali, where al-Qaeda and ISIS-linked Islamist groups operate. A firefight ensued, leaving five police officers and 15 attackers dead.  

On October 30, 2019, several mortar rounds landed inside the United Nations and African Union compounds in Mogadishu, Somalia, injuring seven people. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack. 

On October 27, 2020, an improvised explosive device detonated while class was in session at a school in Peshawar, Pakistan. The bombing, blamed on Islamist militants, killed at least eight people and injured 110 others.

On October 24, 2020, a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near an educational center in the predominately Shiite district of Dasht-e-Barchi in Kabul. The bombing killed 40 people and wounded at least 70. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. 

On October 20, 2021, two improvised explosive devices attached to a Syrian Army vehicle exploded as it traveled under a bridge in Damascus during morning rush hour, killing 14 people. A militant group calling itself the “Qasioun Brigades” claimed responsibility. 

 On October 20, 2018, gunmen attacked farmers belonging to the National Federation of Sugar Workers in Sagay, Negros Occidental. Three men, four women, and two children were killed. Police blamed the Revolutionary Proletarian Army, a splinter group of the New People’s Army, amid conflicts over land reform in the Philippines.
