Senior Advisor, Counter Extremism Project (CEP)

On September 9, 2024, Counter Extremism Project (CEP) hosted a webinar focusing on protecting and fostering Jewish life in the EU after October 7.

Since the HAMAS terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, and the ensuing war in Gaza, EU member states have seen an unprecedented rise in reported antisemitic incidents. Assaults on Jews, vandalization of synagogues, and defacement of Holocaust-related sites and memorials have increased exponentially in recent months. CEP’s distinguished guests will address the security situation for Jews in the EU in the wake of October 7, which saw the most Jewish death in a single day since the Holocaust. We will also explore the impact of the current war on heightened terror threats in the EU.

In addition, the webinar will address questions around the IHRA definition of antisemitism, the validity of police statistics in reporting antisemitic incidents, and how to practically protect and foster Jewish life in the EU. Additionally, CEP will present a new five-step guide on how to identify and combat key antisemitic actors.

Extremists: Their Words. Their Actions.

Fact:

On October 7, 2023, Hamas invaded southern Israel where, in the space of eight hours, hundreds of armed terrorists perpetrated mass crimes of brutality, rape, and torture against men, women and children. In the biggest attack on Jewish life in a single day since the Holocaust, 1,200 were killed, and 251 were taken hostage into Gaza—where 101 remain. One year on, antisemitic incidents have increased by record numbers.
