President Donald Trump brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Iran through talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday while his team, including Vice President JD Vance, held talks with Tehran, a senior White House official said. The official, providing details of the ceasefire on condition of anonymity, said Israel agreed to it so long as Iran does not launch fresh attacks. Iran signaled that no further attacks would take place, the official said. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff were involved in the direct and indirect communications with Iran, the official said.

Reuters: Iraq says drones attacked military sites and bases, damaging radar systems

Iraq said on Tuesday several military sites and bases belonging to Iraqi security forces were targeted by drones, significantly damaging two army radar systems and triggering a call from the prime minister for an investigation into the incident. The source of the drones wasn't clear pending results of the investigation, but two security sources said the drones were small and had been flown to the targeted sites from nearby locations.

Inter-Services Public Relations Director General (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that only the state can declare jihad, stressing that “no individual or group has this authority”. Lt Gen Chaudhry said this while interacting with members of various religious and social circles during an event in Karachi on Sunday. The statement has come over a month following a days-long military engagement between Pakistan and India. Since the military conflict, officers of Pakistan’s armed forces have held a spree of meetings with people belonging to different walks of life.

At least 20 al-Shabaab militants were killed by the Somali National Army, backed by local militias, after the group attacked military positions in the central Hiraan region, the Defence Ministry said late on Sunday. “Nearly 20 militants were killed, others fled. Pursuit operations are ongoing. MoD (Ministry of Defence) remains committed to defending Somalia and ending al-Shabaab terror,” the Defence Ministry said in a statement on X.

Sudan’s foreign ministry on Sunday once again accused Kenya of actively supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group. It warned that Nairobi’s actions threaten regional security and the integrity of African states. The strongly worded statement came after a Kenyan government spokesperson’s June 16 claim that the United Arab Emirates was backing the RSF, which is fighting Sudan’s army, to control the country’s resources and Red Sea coastline. Meta Platforms' (META.O), opens new tab WhatsApp messaging service has been banned from all U.S. House of Representatives devices, according to a memo sent to all House staff on Monday. The notice said the "Office of Cybersecurity has deemed WhatsApp a high risk to users due to the lack of transparency in how it protects user data, absence of stored data encryption, and potential security risks involved with its use."
