WTOP: The Hunt: Beheading in France is warning for Americans as online election-related threats spread

CEP Senior Director Hans-Jakob Schindler spoke with JJ Green of WTOP's The Hunt about the beheading of a school teacher in France: "What you see here is that hate speech online actually kills people offline. There is a clear line between what happened on the streets of Paris and that online campaign that was launched."

On April 3, 2017, the day Vladimir Putin was due to visit the city, a suicide bombing was carried out in the St. Petersburg metro, killing 15 people and injuring 64. An al-Qaeda affiliate, Imam Shamil Battalion, claimed responsibility.
