SwissInfo.ch: Islamic State will remain a fearsome enemy, experts warn
"Despite the recent death of its top leader, the Jihadist Islamic State (IS) group is far from being annihilated, and will remain a fearsome enemy for years, officials and experts in Paris warned on Thursday. At the symposium "Threats and Challenges after the Fall of the 'Caliphate'" organized by the Terrorism Analysis Center and Counter Terrorism Project, all expressed their pessimism. 'Is Daesh (IS's Arabic acronym) gone? I don't believe that,' said Gilles de Kerchove, EU coordinator for the fight against terrorism. 'It is an increasingly decentralized organization. Like Al Qaeda, it relies on a number of 'franchises' around the world and is very persistent,' he added."
The Counter Extremism Project Presents
Enduring Music: Compositions from the Holocaust
Marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Counter Extremism Project's ARCHER at House 88 presents a landmark concert of music composed in ghettos and death camps, performed in defiance of resurgent antisemitism. Curated with world renowned composer, conductor, and musicologist Francesco Lotoro, the program restores classical, folk, and popular works, many written on scraps of paper or recalled from memory, to public consciousness. Featuring world and U.S. premieres from Lotoro's archive, this concert honors a repertoire that endured against unimaginable evil.
