Opposing Views: U.S. Officials Investigate ISIS Use Of Toyota Vehicles
U.S. Treasury officials have asked automaker Toyota for help in an inquiry into how ISIS has obtained so many of the company's pick-up trucks and SUVs seen in the group's propaganda videos, ABC News reported on October 6. Toyota had said that the company is cooperating with the inquiry, led by the Treasury Department's Terror Financing unit. ISIS has used Toyota Hilux pickup trucks and Toyota Land Cruisers in many of its videos.
“Regrettably, the Toyota Land Cruiser and Hilux have effectively become almost part of the ISIS brand,” said Mark Wallace, a former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations who now works as the CEO of the Counter Extremism Project, a nonprofit working to fight and expose extremist financial networks.
The Counter Extremism Project Presents
Enduring Music: Compositions from the Holocaust
Marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Counter Extremism Project's ARCHER at House 88 presents a landmark concert of music composed in ghettos and death camps, performed in defiance of resurgent antisemitism. Curated with world renowned composer, conductor, and musicologist Francesco Lotoro, the program restores classical, folk, and popular works, many written on scraps of paper or recalled from memory, to public consciousness. Featuring world and U.S. premieres from Lotoro's archive, this concert honors a repertoire that endured against unimaginable evil.
