The article outlines the financing mechanisms of the three basic categories of terrorist groups: groups with quasi-state structures, network organizations and lone perpetrators/attack cells. The growing importance of cyberspace for terrorist financing through the misuse of internet services and cryptocurrencies has been reinforced by the CORONA pandemic. A more recent challenge is the defense against the financing of the violent, transnational right-wing extremist and terrorist network."
