ACAMS TODAY: The Underappreciated Instrument of Counterterrorism Sanctions
CEP Senior Director Dr. Hans-Jakob Schindler writes: "Sanctions or restrictive measures in European Union (EU) terminology have become a key instrument in the toolbox of policymakers, including policymakers in the EU. Often the public discussion centers on sanctions implemented against governments of countries such as Iran or the Russian Federation. In Europe, counterterrorism sanctions measures receive far less public attention and are mainly addressed when challenged in European courts. However, sanctions measures can be used to disrupt terror organizations’ ability to function by targeting a set of key individuals that facilitate the functioning of the group."
The Counter Extremism Project Presents
Enduring Music: Compositions from the Holocaust
Marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Counter Extremism Project's ARCHER at House 88 presents a landmark concert of music composed in ghettos and death camps, performed in defiance of resurgent antisemitism. Curated with world renowned composer, conductor, and musicologist Francesco Lotoro, the program restores classical, folk, and popular works, many written on scraps of paper or recalled from memory, to public consciousness. Featuring world and U.S. premieres from Lotoro's archive, this concert honors a repertoire that endured against unimaginable evil.
