On August 3, 2021, a suicide car bomber and gunmen targeted the Kabul home of Afghanistan’s acting defense minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi. Although Mohammadi was not at home at the time of the attack, the explosion killed eight and wounded 20 others. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

Curated with world renowned composer, conductor, and musicologist Francesco Lotoro, the program restores classical, folk, and popular works, many written on scraps of paper or recalled from memory, to public consciousness. Featuring world and U.S. premieres from Lotoro's archive, this concert honors a repertoire that endured against unimaginable evil.
