Between November 9 and November 15, 2018, at least 242 Afghan soldiers were killed in militant attacks, according to Afghan casualty reports. In one attack on November 11, Taliban militants killed an entire company of 50 elite commandos in Ghazni province.

On November 10, 2019, a roadside bomb detonated next to a Special Forces vehicle near Kirkuk, Iraq, injuring five Italian soldiers. The Special Forces team was part of an international training mission to assist Iraqi troops fighting ISIS. The IED was believed to be planted by ISIS.
