On September 1, 2018, a 19-year-old Afghan man launched a knife attack at Amsterdam's central railway station, stabbing and critically injuring two U.S. tourists. The suspect was a German resident, identified only as Jawed S., and had a "terrorist motive".

On August 28, 2018, members of the Bangsmoro Islamic Freedom Fighters detonated an improvised explosive device in a shopping area in Isulan, Philippines. The attack—which occurred during a harvest festival—killed three people, including a 7-year-old, and injured 36 others.

On August 29, 2016, a powerful suicide car bomb struck an army training camp in Aden, Yemen, killing 72 people and injuring 67 others. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place as new military recruits were queuing for breakfast.
Instead of continuing of war in Afghanistan, Americans should have thought about withdrawing their soldiers from Afghanistan. As along as there is even one American solder [sic] in our country [Taliban soldiers will] continue our jihad.

On August 24, 2012, al-Shabaab gunmen, disguised as government security personnel, took siege of the Muna Hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia. The assailants engaged in a two-hour gun battle before on detonated an explosive vest, which killed 32 people.

On August 21, 2016, al-Shabaab carried out a double suicide bombing in Galkayo, Mudug in north-central Somalia. The first was a truck bomb that targeted a local government headquarters, then a second car bomb targeted first responders. At least 20 people were slain and 30 others were wounded.

On January 25, 2020, suspected terrorists ambushed a village in Burkina Faso's Soum province, killing at least 39 people. Though there was no claim of responsibility, affiliates of al-Qaeda and ISIS have been active in the area.

Curated with world renowned composer, conductor, and musicologist Francesco Lotoro, the program restores classical, folk, and popular works, many written on scraps of paper or recalled from memory, to public consciousness. Featuring world and U.S. premieres from Lotoro's archive, this concert honors a repertoire that endured against unimaginable evil.
