On October 31, 2015, Metrojet Flight 9268 was destroyed in an explosion after departing from the Sharm El Sheikh International Airport in Egypt, en route to Saint Petersburg, Russia. ISIS's Wilayat Sinai claimed responsibility for the downing, which killed all 224 passengers and crew on board.
