- July 28: Pro-ISIS post on Telegram stating that a Pakistani army commander and his companion were killed while fighting “militants in South Waziristan.”
“Urgent. The Pakistani army launched a security operation against militants in South Waziristan, which has so far resulted in the death of an army commander and his companion and the injury of others.”

- July 29: Pro-ISIS post on Telegram claiming that a mortar hit the home of Umar Saeed Mamund, a politician in Bajaur.
“Urgent. Mortar shelling targeted the home of Umar Saeed Mamund, president of the Pakistan Muslim
League (N) party in Bajaur, resulting in material damage.”

“Follow-ups. The president of Pakistan awards U.S. General Michael Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command, the Military Merit Medal [this is incorrect—it was the Order of Excellence], Pakistan’s highest military award.”
- August 1: Pro-ISIS post on Telegram regarding a U.S. Department of State travel warning for Karachi, Pakistan.
“Urgent. The U.S. State Department issues a travel warning to its citizens in the Pakistani city of Karachi. Statement text, Karachi, Pakistan: We have received a report of a threat against upscale hotels in Karachi. The U.S. consulate general in Karachi has temporarily restricted visits by official U.S.
government employees to these hotels.”
