Harroun returned to the United States in March 2013 and voluntarily spoke with the FBI. He was charged with conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and conspiracy to use destructive forces overseas. Harroun pled guilty to lesser charge and was sentenced to time served.
